Princess of Asturias Foundation

ESTABLISHED TO RECOGNIZE SCIENTIFIC, TECHNICAL, CULTURAL, SOCIAL, AND HUMANITARIAN WORK IN A FORMAL ANNUAL CEREMONY

The Princess of Asturias Foundation is a private non-profit institution, whose objectives are to contribute to the acknowledgment and promotion of all the scientific, cultural and humanistic values that are universal heritage and to consolidate the existing links between the Principality of Asturias and the title that is traditionally held by the heirs to the Crown of Spain. Princess Leonor is the Honorary President of the Foundation.


OBJECTIVES

The final objective is the hosting of the Princess of Asturias Awards to reward the scientific, technical, cultural, social, and humanitarian work carried out by people, institutions, groups of people or groups of institutions in the international arena.

The Awards are presented during a formal annual ceremony that takes place in October at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo. The award ceremony is considered one of the most important cultural events in the international agenda.

COMMITMENT

The Foundation wants to promote scientific, cultural, and human values around the world. The Princess of Asturias Awards recognize individuals and organizations in eight categories, namely: arts, social sciences, communication and humanities, concord, international cooperation, sports, scientific and technical research, and literature.
