Palau de la música

ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT MUSICAL INSTITUTIONS IN CATALONIA THAT PROMOTES CHORAL SINGING, AND THE KNOWLEDGE AND DISSEMINATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE.

The Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música Catalana Foundation was established in 1990 with the aim of revitalizing the cultural life of the Palau de la Música Catalana and the choirs of the Orfeó Català. Among other activities, it manages the modernist auditorium’s series of concerts, which have a very prominent role in the musical life of Barcelona.

It is an open, dynamic and diverse organization that promotes the art of music and musical education, awareness of musical heritage and the dissemination of musical culture, aimed at broad range of people, a reflection of Catalan society.

OBJECTIVES

The Orfeó Català-Palau de la Música Catalana Foundation aims to promote music – especially choral singing –, the knowledge and dissemination of cultural heritage, and also works to expand social cohesion.

The collaboration of the Puig Foundation helps to revitalize the artistic and cultural life of the city. Every year the Foundation sponsors a concert within the “Grans Veus” concert series, which showcases today’s greatest lyrical singers.

COMMITMENT

The Palau de la Música Catalana and the Orfeó Català work to restore the founding values of the Orfeó as the main pillar of the Foundation’s strategic positioning.

Excellence, participation, social commitment, Catalan identity, and innovation are the pillars of the Foundation, the same values that gave rise to the Orfeó in 1891 and upon which the Palau was built in 1905.
